Mozart Wolfgang Amadeus - Piano Sonatas Vol. 1

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Salzburg, 1756 - Vienna, 1791)

Austrian composer, conductor and performer of keyboard, violin and viola instruments. Son of Leopold Mozart, he showed his exceptional talent very early, playing the harpsichord at the age of three and composing at the age of five. His elder sister, Maria Anna, (1751-1829), was also a brilliant harpsichordist and in 1762 Leopold decided to present his children to various European courts. They first visited Munich and Vienna and the following year (1763) they made a larger tour, from Munich, Augsburg, Frankfurt and others to Cologne, Brussels and Paris. In 1764 they went to London, where Wolfgang took composition lessons from Johann Christian Bach and singing lessons from the castrato Manzuoli.
In the very short duration of his life, Mozart composed more than 600 works (the catalogue of his works was classified by L. Kochel, from whose name the "K" comes before the number of the work), among which are 24 operas, 41 symphonies, 19 masses, 7 concertos for violin, 22 concertos for piano, 19 sonatas for piano, 38 sonatas for violin and piano and a multitude of other works of every kind. Among the most important editions of Mozart's works, the Leipzig edition in 23 volumes, printed between 1876 and 1883, is of basic importance. In 1842 the "Mozarteum" Institute was founded in Salzburg for the dissemination of Mozart's works.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is one of the most important composers of classical music. Together with Joseph Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven, they are the most important representatives of the so-called Viennese classicism and classicism in general. He composed more than 600 works, chamber music, symphonic and ecclesiastical music, as well as smaller compositions: variations, fantasies, sonatas, arias, etc.
