Philippos Nakas Conservatory
The company has been active in the field of music education since 1983, when in collaboration with Yamaha, it established the Electric Organ Center, which developed a network of 64 branches throughout Greece with a student body of 6,500.
In September 1989, the company founded the Philippos Nakas Conservatory, transforming the landscape of music education in Greece. It initially focused on classical music studies and soon expanded its educational activities to include contemporary and Greek traditional music, music production, infant musical education and pre-music education, music pedagogy, and music therapy.
In addition to its main campus in central Athens, the Conservatory now operates subsidiaries in Agia Paraskevi, Aegaleo, Glyfada, Kifisia, Melissia, Nea Smyrni, and Thessaloniki.
The Philippos Nakas Conservatory is considered one of the leading educational institutions worldwide, due to its state-of-the-art facilities and excellent human resources. It offers high-level study programs, academic collaborations, and opportunities. Its graduates succeed on both the Greek and international music scenes. The branches and the main campus organize a large number of concerts and seminars annually, while orchestras, choirs, and various musical ensembles promote student collaboration and strengthen their presence in cultural events.
The Philippos Nakas Conservatory is a founding member of the Berklee International Network. The network was established in 1993 and has expanded over the years to include educational institutions and organizations worldwide. Since then, and every year, the Conservatory has been a stop on the global tour of Berklee College of Music faculty, during which millions of dollars in scholarships are awarded. In 2017, Berklee College of Music recognized the educational consistency and outstanding results of the Conservatory by designating it as a "Global Academic Partner." As a result, the Conservatory was included in Berklee’s first rank of partners, along with 22 other universities and colleges worldwide. Under the articulation agreement between the Philippos Nakas Conservatory and Berklee, the academic credits earned by graduates of the Contemporary Music Department are automatically transferred to Berklee College of Music, reducing their duration of study in Boston by four semesters (two years).
In 2016, the strategic cooperation between the Conservatory and the Hellenic American College was launched. This collaboration enables graduates over 18 years old to participate in a four-year program, and upon graduation from the Conservatory, to obtain a Bachelor of Music degree from the Hellenic American University, fully recognized and equivalent to degrees awarded by Greek and international universities.
In March 2023, an academic partnership was signed between the Philippos Nakas Conservatory and the historic Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Through this collaboration, graduates of the Conservatory can earn a Bachelor of Music degree from Boston Conservatory in just two years, with credit transfer of their completed coursework.
