    Our Founder, Philippos Nakas.
    Philippos Nakas S.A. Music House is the oldest in Greece, founded in 1937 by Philippos Nakas. The main activity of the company was the publication of works by the most famous Greek composers and the distribution of musical instruments like Gr. Steinweg pianos and Curcianelli and Hohner accordions. All these activities were operated in a small shop in the center of Athens, at 2 Harilaou Trikoupi str.

    The company assumed the importation, representation and distribution of famous foreign manufacturers of musical instruments such as Steinway & Sons, Sauter, Blόthner, Hoffmann pianos, Selmer, Boosey & Hawkes, Conn wind instruments and Hammond, Elka keyboards.

    The Philippos Nakas Music House was appointed by YAMAHA as the exclusive representative in Greece for the complete range of its musical instruments and HiFi equipment.

    The sons of Philippos Nakas, Kostantinos and George Nakas.
    The company lost it's founder, Philippos Nakas, and the Greek music community a great supporter. The annual scholarships 'Philippos Nakas' were established in his honor. The company's management came in the hands of his sons, Kostantinos and George Nakas.

    Establishment in Nicosia of the affiliated company under the name “Nakas Music Cyprus LTD”, aiming at the expansion of the company’s activities in the market of Cyprus. In the same year the daughter company “Keyboard Education Center” was merged with the parent company.

    Reorganization of the company's sales network with the successful establishment of 24 specialized music stores. The company counts 10 self-owned store all over Greece after the opening of the two new stores in the cities of Serres and Corfu. At the same time the central store of Navarinou str is expanded and renovated. Its total surface became 1.500m2

    Opening of a new store in Ioannina, raising the number of the company's stores to 11. Opening of two new subsidiaries of the PhilipposNakas Conservatory in Thessaloniki and Ioannina, raising the total number of subsidiaries to 9.

    Opening of eight new self-owned stores, two in Thessaloniki (Ambelokipi and Kalamaria areas), in Veria, Agrinio, Chalandri, Patisia, Pagrati and N. Ionia. The company now counts 22 self-owned stores.
  • 2000

    The company's shares were listed on the Athens stock Exchange. The raised funds gave the possibility to expand the sales network at all over Greece.

    Philippos Nakas S.A acquired the majority of shares in 'Nakas Music Cyprus LTD' and now own's the 82,8% of the company. Opening of a new 300m2 in the center of Thessaloniki and another one in the center of Athens.

    “HELLENIC MUSIC COMPANY S.A.” The company’s headquarters moved from 147 Skiathou str., Athens, to the 19th km., Leoforos Lavriou in Peania, in its new modern premises of offices and warehouse, near the new Athens Airport. The company acquired the ISO 9001:2000 certificate for the sales, distribution and service of musical instruments, professional audio, consumer electronics, multimedia, cinema application, as well as for the publication and sales-distribution of music books.

    Establishment of a new specialized shop for professional audio in the center of Athens. In a total surface of 350 m2, is exhibited a huge range of sound systems, home cinema, TVs, screens, professional audio installations and multimedia products. Additionally to the above, a specialized Guitar shop opened in the center of Athens, exhibiting a wide range of products for professional and amateur guitar players: classic, acoustic, electric guitars, amplifiers and accessories. A new shop and very important selling point opens in the city of Iraklio (Crete island), offering the full range of musical instruments, books and professional audiovisual products.

    The company acquires the remaining 17,2% of NAKAS MUSIC (CYPRUS) LTD. share capital and now owns the 100%.

    The shop in Nicosia moved in a new and bigger building of a total surface 400 m2, at a central point of Nicosia.
  • 2008-2009

    The company has developed a network of 40 stores of musical instruments and audio equipment as well as 23 special music stores throughout Greece. At the same time, the network of Nakas Paper stores is expanding with a total number of 8 stores.

    Due to the recession, the company is proceeding with a restructuring of its sales network and amendment of its growth model by closing small non-profit stores and developing large and profitable stores at the same time. The company's largest store on Navarinou Street is completely renovated.

    Collaboration with STAGG for Greece and Cyprus, a famous manufacturer specialized in the production of a wide range of musical instruments, professional audio products, lighting and accessories.
  • 2014

    The company has a total number of 20 stores, 22 special music stores and 4 Nakas Paper stores in the areas of Kolonaki, Kifissia, Psychiko, A. Paraskevi. The company begins the distribution of FENDER guitars and amplifiers, as an authorized distributor through a network of 17 of its own stores and 4 special music stores. The company is also authorized as a distributor of the famous handmade American guitars TAYLOR in Athens, Thessaloniki, Glyfada, as well as in Nicosia and Limassol in Cyprus. The company's store in Nicosia is completely renovated and at the same time the Limassol store is transferred to a new and larger store within a space of 250 sq.m.
  • 2015

    Despite the difficult conditions in the economy, the company managed to expand its wholesale network. The company is also authorized the distribution of the famous products of GIBSON-EPIPHONE (guitars, bass and their accessories), ELECTROHARMONIX (guitar and bass pedals), ACUS (guitar amplifiers). In addition, the company supplies musical instruments, sound systems and other equipment to the Marching Bands and Choirs of the Peloponnese Prefecture.
  • 2016

    The stores in Kifissia and Glyfada are renovated. The company is granted the official representation of Steinway & Sons and creates an amazing space with an exhibition of Steinway & Sons, Boston and Essex pianos in its main store on 13 Navarinou & Mavromichali Street. Additionally, the company is authorized for the representation of ORANGE with the amazing quality guitar amplifiers, the German MEINL high quality cymbals and percussion, the ORTEGA ukulele and guitars and finally CLAVIA its world-famous NORD keyboards.
  • 2017

    The company's store at The Mall Athens is being renovated and the Kavala store is being moved to a bigger space on 102 Omonias Street with a full exhibition of all its products. The company represents the German ENGL guitar amplifiers as well as the Canadian RADIAL effects and electronic devices for professional musicians.
  • 2018

    Collaboration with MARTIN for Greece and Cyprus, a leading manufacturer of acoustic and electro-acoustic guitars. Collaboration with ESP (Electric Guitars and Bass) and KURZWEIL - YOUNG CHANG (Electric Pianos, Harmonies, Classical Pianos, Synthesizer) for the distribution of their products in the Greek market.
  • 2019

    Collaboration with ROLAND - BOSS (Musical Instruments, Professional, DJ Sound, Guitar Amplifiers, Pedals, Accessories) for the distribution of their products in Greece and Cyprus. New collaboration with PEDALTRAIN (Accessories for Musical Instruments) and STEFY (Cases for Musical Instruments). Delivery and installation of the equipment to the Theater of the Municipality of Zakynthos.
  • 2020

    Collaboration with the Spanish ALVARO, manufacturer of acoustic guitars, as well as with the GATOR, specialized in the manufacture of hard cases and cases of musical instruments, of high durability and quality. Nakas Paper is renamed Nakas Concept with a new logo, website and look, with a greater emphasis on quality gifts and decoration through the best collections from around the world. The company signs an exclusive distribution contract in Greece and Cyprus of BOSE professional products, BOSE PROFESSIONAL. The delivery and installation of the new YAMAHA digital consoles at the Athens Concert Hall is successfully completed, as well as the delivery of Music & Sound equipment to the Music Schools of Athens.

    The company is investing in the transition of online stores (Nakas Music, Nakas Concept, Nakas Conservatory & Nakas B2B) to the new VENDALLION platform. Implementation of an investment for the installation of the new modern warehouse management system (WMS) in the company's headquarters and warehouses.
