Mandolins

Its origin comes from the medieval mandola or mandora. The mandolin in the form we find it today, first appears in Italy, mainly in Naples, since the 17th century. The mandolin is now found all over the world. It accompanies in some places traditional songs, bluegrass American melodies, modern sounds of rock and pop music. In Greece the mandolin, as a musical instrument of expression of the local music tradition, appeared mainly in the Ionian Islands and Crete.
