  • DESCRIPTION
The clear, sustaining Bφsendorfer sound is typical for both the upright piano and the grand piano, as is their unique construction, selected materials and excellent finishing. The action and keyboard are precisely installed to ensure an ideal touch and the best possible transfer of power with a maximum degree of control. Surfaces, curves and edges are designed to fit perfectly and blend to produce a harmonic overall appearance. In addition to the standard colours of black and white, special veneers and varnishes are also available upon request.

Narrow, evenly spaced growth rings are an essential requirement for the best
sound transmission. Only wood of the finest quality is good enough to make a
Bφsendorfer grand piano. For the sound-board and ribs, we use spruce from
Val di Fiemme in Italy. In this region, the trees grow slowly at altitudes of over
1,000m, where air humidity is relatively low
The treble strings are individually fastened with a hand-wound loop - another
example of the superb quality of Bφsendorfer grand pianos. This stringing
technique helps to prevent unwanted breakage of strings and improves tuning
    stability.

After the cabinet and all the components of a grand piano has independently
received their high-gloss or satin finish; they are assembled to form a single
unit. The front and back parts of the lid, the fallboard, key-blocks, cheeks, lid
prop, key-slip, music desk, lyre and legs are assembled to fit the specifications
of the individual grand piano. This is why each individual component bears the
serial number that identifies the instrument - an impressive amount of
documentation is created during the manufacture of each piano which
highlights the fact that all the instruments are individually built, to last for
    generations.
